    apple pie baked oatmeal

If you're tired of your same old breakfast every morning, these baked oats are a game changer. Ever since I first tried baked oatmeal, I've been hooked on making different flavor combinations and recipes. This apple cinnamon flavor is one of my all time favourites! It's ultra cozy, loaded with juicy apples and will make your kitchen smell like a dream. Plus it's made with wholesome ingredients and is both vegan and gluten free.

    Ingredients In Apple Pie Oatmeal

This is the perfect easy breakfast recipe to meal prep for the week! The best part is that it requires just a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry.

    • Rolled Oats
    • Almond Milk
    • Unsweetened Applesauce
    • Vanilla Extract
    • Protein Powder
    • Cinnamon
    • Baking Powder
    • Salt
    • Maple Syrup
    • Fresh Apples (diced)

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    1) Preheat oven to 350F and grease or line your baking dish.

    2) Add dry ingredients to your prepared baking dish, followed by wet ingredients. Stir until fully combined and oats are completely coated. Then fold in ⅔c apples.

    3) Top with remaining apples.

    4) Bake for about 45 minutes until top is lightly golden.

    5) Let cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy!

    Substitutions

    • Rolled Oats - be sure to use certified gluten-free oats for gluten free diets.
    • Almond Milk - feel free to substitute with any non-dairy milk such as oat milk or soy milk. If you're not following a plant-based diet, regular milk can also be used.
    • Unsweetened Apple Sauce - I use unsweetened applesauce to keep this recipe refined sugar free, but you can use any you have on hand
    • Protein Powder - any unflavoured or vanilla protein powder works great!
    • Maple Syrup - you can substitute with honey if not following a vegan diet. If you prefer a sweeter baked oatmeal, add an extra 2tbsp to the recipe.
    • Fresh Apples - this recipe pairs best with red apples, but you can also try it with green apples if preferred.

How To Store Apple Pie Baked Oatmeal

The best way to store leftovers is in the fridge for 4-5 days. I always slice my baked oatmeal into individual portions and store in an airtight container, so they are ready to go in the mornings. You can also store in the freezer for up to 2 months. To reheat, warm your oatmeal in the toaster oven at 350F until heated through.

    3 Top Tips for Success

    1. Use rolled oats for best texture, NOT quick oats! Quick oats will greatly affect the baking time and results of this recipe.
    2. Line your baking dish or grease with cooking spray before adding your oat batter. This will make your baked oats easier to remove once they're done cooking
    3. Spread oat mixture in an even layer in your baking dish to ensure all slices turn out the same thickness.

    FAQs

What's the best way to eat baked oats?

This apple oatmeal bake is a delicious breakfast or snack on its own and is best served warm. To further elevate this recipe, I love topping mine with almond butter, yogurt, extra cinnamon and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Can I customize this oatmeal recipe?

Yes definitely! Feel free to add in your favorite superfoods or mix in's. Some ideas I love include chia seeds, ground flaxseed, or a little brown sugar for a sweeter version.

How do you reheat baked oats?

Leftovers can be reheated in a toaster oven or convectional oven at 350F until warmed through. You can also microwave individual squares for 20-30sec.

Hi Arisha, this recipe looks delicious. Wondering if there would be an effect on the recipe if I left out the protein powder? Would I need to increase the oats? Thank you

        Hi Becky!
If you would like to omit the protein powder, I would suggest adding an equal amount of oat flour as a substitute. Hope you enjoy!
